The Manila Experience: Amazing!

Posted by: . on: September 16, 2008

In the mid-month of August, Filamer Christian College specifically College of Computer Studies received an invitation letter from UPITTC Manila stating that there will be a 4-day convention in IT field that will be held in U.P., Diliman, Quezon City. The countries biggest and greatest IT enthusiasts, students, professionals and interested individuals of the whole Philippines will participate in the said biggest IT event of the year.

August 31, 2008 (Sunday) at exactly 11:00 in the morning, we left Roxas City to attend in an Y4IT convention. We were 27 BSCS students, 1 BSIM student and 1 Computer Studies faculty member. All in all we were 29 persons who traveled along the way to Manila through land and sea or known as roll-on roll-off transportation riding in an air-conditioned Gasat bus and we didn’t expect that it will be very tiring as we used to.

When we arrived in U.P., we‘re astonished when we saw the tremendous number of delegates who attended the convention and we were proud that we’re one of those. There were many keynote speakers that made us concentrate well in listening to different topics. Some were interesting and admirable but there were some that was obviously boring. And one of those admirable one was Sen. Franklin “Kiko” Pangilinan whom I adore more because of his inspiring and full of motivation message.

After the convention, we went to different malls of Manila to take a stroll and shop. It has so many things to offer. We’ve been also to Baclaran where we found and bought different stuffs in a very cheap price. We experienced to ride in n electronic train or known as the MRT and LRT. Honestly, we’re not culture shocked with Manila because we have already gone to Cebu and this really helps us to adjust and expect more. Some of our classmates experienced an embarrassing moments like losing their way when walking and riding in public utility vehicles. We have learned from our own mistakes.

Generally, the whole trip from Roxas City to Manila and Manila to Roxas City was so memorable. And Manila is a great place to shop and stroll.
